Cllr Lyn Barton, Colchester Borough Council’s Planning, Sustainability and Environment Portfolio Holder, said: “The Cycle Safely sessions provide a great opportunity for adults to gain more confidence when cycling.”

Cllr Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council’s Cycle Champion, said: “Cycling can be daunting for some adults who have not been on a bike for years, so these sessions offer lots of useful pointers and practical advice to help people experience the freedom of travelling on two wheels. Although I regard myself as an experienced cyclist I will be taking part in a Bikeability course in the near future to brush up on my own cycle skills and would encourage others to do the same.”

Pam Nelson, Colchester Cycling Campaign, said: “Cycling offers so many benefits – it’s free, healthy and a really enjoyable way to travel. If you are a bit nervous of getting back on a bike, or just feel like you would like to know a little more about how to cycle more confidently the cycle skills sessions could be just the thing for you. They are always fun and friendly and make such a difference to the adults who take part.”
